Three top achievers in World Class Tests have won their way into the two-week summer progamme for gifted children in the UK run by the UK National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth (UK NAGTY) in August. They will become the first batch of non-UK students qualifying for the summer programme, through a scholarship sponsored by the organizers of World Class Arena Elite Competition (China Region) - The Cyberport Institute of Hong Kong, University of Hong Kong and Trumptech (HK) Limited.

One of the winners Kwan-Chin-wai at Ying Wah College is very excited about the summer programme of UK NAGTY. “I am looking forward to this summer vacation as there will be lots of fun to learn together with British professors and students. I love Mathematics and I like to collect everything related to Bus. NAGTY offered me a course “Robotics – Engineering” which is very suitable to me. I believe this summer would be an unforgettable experience for me.”
Another winner, Michelle at Yew Chung International School is offered a course “From Invention to Market: Creative Ideas to Enterprise”. Mrs Lai said, “If they can make choice for Michelle, they will also select this course. It is very amazing that NAGTY well match the course for their daughter.”
This year, it has been for the first time UK NAGTY open its gateway for non-UK students including Hong Kong, which was used to offer to the talented children in the UK who are in top five per cent of the ability range. The trio were named the scholarship winners by attaining distinction in both Mathematics as well as Problem Solving Skills in World Class Tests and outperformed over 250 counterparts from Hong Kong and Mainland China in World Class Arena Elite Competition (China Region) in February 2006.
UK NAGTY was established by the British Government and the University of Warwick in 2002 to explore young people with high potentials and help converting their potentials into high achievement through providing them with formal and informal learning opportunities.
